Director of Administration

Diane Wright is FX Ecademy’s Director of Administration and has been Steve’s business partner for over 15 years.  In 2006, Diane joined forces with Steve to help create his VFX training programs.

Diane is a 25+ year veteran of video production and post-production having worked in different capacities such as Editor, Online Assistant Editor, Main and ISO Operator, Videotape Playback Operator, and Post Production Supervisor, and Digital Asset Manager for the Digital Intermediate process.

As Producer/Production Manager. Diane provided leadership in digital visual effects and digital ink and paint on over 50 feature films, dozens of commercials and special venue projects.

An accomplished technical writer, Diane designed and presented courseware ranging from editing software packages like Final Cut Pro, Quantel’s QEdit Pro and Grass Valley’s NewsEdit systems to courseware for video post-production training.

Diane's Training Career

As an accomplished Apple Certified Trainer, Diane has taught Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing software with an emphasis on news/sports editing.  Working either one-on-one or with large groups, she has given training to U.S. broadcast stations in both New York and Los Angeles— clients ranked number one and number two in their markets. Her clients include the ABC East & West Coast Networks, KABC, KNBC, KTTV, KTLA, CNN, the Associated Press, and KGO, among many other post facilities.

In addition to teaching various editing software packages, she also designed and delivered many presentations on The ABCs of HD Video and How Television Works 101.  Diane also designed and delivered numerous hands-on courses on standard-def (SD) and hi-def (HD) video operations for Sony and Panasonic decks and for both the QC and Mastering processes for major networks and video facilities. These courses were designed for audiences ranging from non-technical to technical and to engineers to senior management. Extremely popular with her students, Diane is admired for her clarity of presentation and patient training style.

As a technical writer, Diane documented procedures and then taught those procedures for clients.  Projects include Cinesite’s Los Angeles Digital Intermediate (DI) operation and a a user guide for Kodak’s Assimilate 2-K playback software project.  

Diane wrote chapters and glossaries and edited, tested and reviewed tutorials for Diana Weynand’s books Apple Final Cut Pro 4, 6, Express, and FCP for Avid Editors  as well as Weynand’s How Video Works editions.

Diane also provides editorial functions, indexing and photographic images for both of Steve Wright’s books on compositing: Digital Compositing for Film and Video and Compositing Visual Effects: Essentials for the Aspiring Artist.

Since 2006, I teamed up with Foundry Certified Master Nuke Trainer and courseware developer, Steve Wright, to produce and edit his Telly Award winning Nuke training videos. Steve’s ability to create highly focused and information packed tutorials has garnered industry wide recognition so our team was tapped to produce videos for other products and companies. To date we have produced over 1000 videos on Nuke, Shake, Mocha, Red Giant’s Particle System for Nuke and YUVSoft’s 2D to 3D conversion software for Nuke.
